[edit] Factory Bag Review by jasonsmith
Well I went ahead and ordered a set from a US dealer. I received a discount which helped. The set is for a 07 RWB. US List price is $999.00. The liner bag set must be purchased separately. It has been noted that using the liner bag set decreases the usable amount of space inside.
PACKAGING
The set comes in a fairly large 2' x 3' x 1.5' high cardboard box. Inside the box there is another box with the hardware and the two Saddlebags. The Saddlebags are in protective bags separated by bubble wrap and a piece of cardboard. My box was already open as well as the box inside the main box. Not sure why, thinking the dealer had to take a peek. The heat shields on the sides of the bags are also covered with protective film.
CONTENTS
In the box comes all the hardware, two saddlebags and two separate sets of instructions. One set of instructions is for installing the hardware to the bike. The other set is for attaching the bags to the framework. There was one key, red in color taped to each bag. In one of the bags there was also another key taped to the inside as well as a small baggy with two more keys and a lock cylinder. Honda has clearly covered the loosing your key scenario. Nice touch to add a lock cylinder to the mix as well just in case.
The lock cylinder with the side cases enables you to key your top case to match the side cases - one key to open all the cases, with another key for bike. If you tape them together you won't ride off with your key in a case.
QUALITY
The quality appears to be outstanding. The paint on the boxes is solid and free from any defects. The hinge locks are strong and solid and free from any looseness or slack. The main bag hinges are also solid and free from any play. There is a waterproofing rubber seal inside the perimeter of the bag which is supple enough to provide a great seal. The "INTERCEPTOR" badge has a carbon style background and looks sweet. The red reflector appears to be of good quality. The bag incorporates an internal content restraint system made up of a stretchable banding which securely connects.
FUNCTION
The key lock is very smooth. Lifting the handle releases the catch which releases the bag from the frame and bike. There is a separate latch which operates the opening and closing of the bag itself. The inside bag restraint system webbing has a catch that is far more than just a "click" type lock. It is the type of catch that you feed through the mating catch and twist to lock in place. It is quite strange but secure. Not sure why this type of lock was used. Turning the key not only locks the bag but also locks the handle in the down position.
These bags also eliminate the need for a center mounted frame slider if one was going in that direction.

RATING
I'll give these bags a 4/5 star rating. They loose one star due to there steep price. The reflector is a bit on the "chunky" side and is not visible from the rear. Honda could do better with the install package such as eliminate the need for drilling and also eliminate the need for the tail support bracket change. There styling and color match make them a worth while purchase.
